Who is God?
What is God?
How is God?
Or where is God?
Do these questions have an answer? I bet not, cause the concept of God is humongous compared to what we think we know. It doesn't just mean the idols we worship, reading from scriptures, prayers of various sorts but it has a deeper meaning and motive. You don't find a prescribed and perpetual meaning of God as it keeps on changing with persons, situations, and the life you have adapted. For years people are debating over the existence of Gods and this has been a very sensitive subject to talk upon.
Well, let me try giving some perception of God, which I have heard and believed over years. So, God, it is an ultimate force which drives us in doing the right things and building that faith in ourselves for every good we do. It all depends on the way we percept this force or energy. All religion in the world says one thing, there is a supreme energy that is the source of life and one must have faith in what he or she believes in. For some people, it's the faith itself which they believe as God. The faith that you believe is right, the faith that works everything out is what they believe to be a God.
For a person in extreme difficulty and hopelessness, a person who fulfils one's desire and helps them in gaining the stability in life will be considered as God. Some would think in a bizarre way of the things happening on earth like it may be a game played by aliens. Or God as a chess master, with humans as pawns flipping them from good to evil or vice versa in order to bring the balance to the world. Or as Jacques states in ‘As you like it'
"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances
And one man in his time plays many parts"
Here, the god might be the one who writes and directs this play, and we are the proficient actors in it.
I am a Hindu. According to Hinduism, there is one true God called Brahma (the supreme spirit) who permeates the whole universe. We believe that Brahma is present in each and every individual as a soul or eternal spirit. And it's this Brahma we worship in different forms according to our convenience. The Brahma is regarded as a metaphysical concept and acts as a single binding unit behind the diversity in all that exists in the universe.
Even in Islam, "the God" is the absolute one, the powerful and the creator of existence within the universe. In Christianity, the Holy Spirit is one of the three divine persons of the Holy Trinity who make up the single substance of God. They believe that God to be both innate and supreme. Basically, most of the religions in the world have the same ideology about "the God".
The concept of God according to theism is that God is attributed with omniscience, omnipotent, omnipresence and an eternal or necessary existence. Well the existence of God is a highly debatable topic and the argument for or against this is highly productive as it tests one's belief and clarifies the ways of thinking. Yet! This doesn't have an end because there isn't a strong proof to prove either.
While, coming to the science factor, from where do the living beings get their life from? A human cannot create a human with a soul. Where does this living force come from? There are many theories for this. One, an electric spark caused the life. Electric sparks can generate amino acids and sugars from an atmosphere with water, ammonia, and hydrogen suggesting that lightning might have helped create the building blocks of life on Earth. Two, deep-sea vents may be the cause of life or it had a chilly start. Three, the formation of RNA or more simpler molecules interacting with each other in a chain of reactions. Four, life came into the earth through somewhere else in space like Panspermia. Even if this concept was true, the question of how life began on Earth would then only change to how life began elsewhere in space.
Then it strikes us, the basis of all these theories are the atoms. The building blocks of every material, every cell, and every molecule are this angstrom level blocks. So are these atoms God? Oh! Atoms are again divided into subatomic particles. So can we call these subatomic particles God? When I asked one of my friends, he told when you believe in God as a creator as well as a destroyer, a subatomic particle has the same function. So it qualifies as God isn't it? Well most of them don't accept it as they don't want to mix the concept of God, a religious/philosophical one with the science, a logical one.
In this universe, everything exists in pairs. Like positive and negative, Sun and Moon, Action and reaction etc. In the same way, atheism exists with theism. Well, Atheists do give a lot of explanation as to why they do not believe in Gods. That may be the disappointment they have experienced or the fact that faith is unreliable. For example, when you try standing in front of a speeding vehicle with nothing but faith to keep it from hitting you. That's not possible, right? They try reasoning that if Gods are meant to be good, then why the evil does thrives every time in the presence of Gods. To atheists, the suffering on Earth makes their existence implausible.
There's a contradiction over here too. If you consider god as a belief, believing that God isn't there is also a type of belief right?
Well by end of this, there is nothing called a conclusion. Centuries may pass but this concept might always be an enigma. One thing is for sure, put your faith in all good things and just having faith in that doesn't yield the fruit, one needs to work hard in an honest way to reap the benefit of your work. Having a faith in the wrong thing will do no good but the harm. So, it's better to think twice and believe in what you do to be true.
