Hypocrisy
The title seems to give away what I’m planning to say here.
It’s plain and simple “Hypocrisy”.
The word is so simple. But the meaning brings forth all the complications in the world. It’s something like that, where you can define it easily. But, you know the dimensions intentionally left unexplored for your answer.
Two face! Explains it in a nutshell.
But have you ever wondered? What’s real when you’re a hypocrite. The voice speaking inside you or the sanity maintained in the physical plane? Which one’s the real you? Is there something real? Or is the line between the reality and illusion blur? What could be the answer?
We all like to be called ourselves “good”. Agree with that? But do we seriously deserve that? Deep within most of us know, we might not deserve a few of the privileges and the love showered upon us. These privileges are results of hypocrisy at times.
Deserving perhaps?
But why are we so afraid to show our true selves?
Comfort zones? Yes, some of the behaviour can be explained on this basis. But this is no hypocrisy. Or it could be a soft form of hypocrisy according to you.
Back to true selves. What’s our true self? Is it a form of an ideal being existing within the confines of our mind, which we think isn’t suitable for the world we live in. Or is it a being crying for freedom for not being able to do, what it actually wants to do. The reasons could be varied, but the most important one will always be the fear of thoughts about your self in another’s mind.
Is it really worth it? Hiding your true self for the sake of world?
Maybe no?
Anyway, I’ve a different opinion on this being of mine.
This is a being which experiences everything. Joy, grief, disgust, pity, wallow, jealousy, rage and every other emotion out there. This being expresses the appropriate emotion within a split second of any such situation. But, the mind processes and alters the emotion and expresses the same (If It were to benefit) or expresses a different one, while your true self is expressing something else. This is the way, I’d like to portray that being in us.
The portrayal isn’t clear enough actually. As my true self remains confused as ever.
There are moments, when we don’t analyse or think about what we want to express. And we end up expressing something. These are the moments, when we truly lived. The moment, when we expressed what our true self experienced in there.
But, I think. Why do we have this differentiation?
True self and the outside version. Why can’t it be the one and the same? There won’t be any complications involved then.
Yes, it’d be awesome. But then, this world would have been a different place, in ways not imaginable.
We expect others to be real and honest. When we ourselves aren’t being real with them. Maybe the change should begin right here.
I’m concluding now, as there’s enough hypocrisy in these words to loathe myself.
