Solitude?

Everything was passing him and he couldn’t keep his eyes fixed on anything as the car sped through the highway. It was early in the morning, and the fog hadn’t receded, yet the driver gave no qualms to it as he sped through the highway in top gear.

Ram sitting in the rear with his sleepy eyes glued to the phone tried to get a picture but the speed being too much, the pictures appeared to be too blur.
Never Mind.

The driver was playing a track on the stereo and Ram could barely hear it and he remembered he had to do something

Never mind, there’s still plenty of time.

He swept through the apps in his phone, there wasn’t nothing of note except for one set of people being happy and blessed for no reason. And another set of people fighting for the ones who hadn’t been blessed in the same way. Nothing mattered to him anymore, because he didn’t belong to the former and he couldn’t be the latter because Social Media felt too surreal for him.

And there weren’t any new messages. It was just him and the phone. Tons of people around him, yet people in the phone felt more real. But again, the virtual world felt rather uncanny. There hadn’t been any calls either except for the driver in the morning.

I should just buy a basic cell phone.

The fog had begun to recede and the sun was slowly lighting up the sky, he could even see birds in the distance and he began to feel the warmth of the sun rays penetrating through the window.

Speeding into the distance he could now only hear the wind as he slowly opened the window beside him. The wind was noisy and the sound it made more sense than the noise he had grown used to. The warmth of the sun rays had increased and it wasn’t like the heat coming out of his laptop, this felt very different.

I definitely should get more sun.

Slowly clouds begun gathering, and the sun got lost between the barrage of clouds.

Maybe this isn’t what I’m supposed to do.

The driver slowed down, and he felt like opening the door and falling off. But he couldn’t. He just couldn’t, he couldn’t bring himself to do that.

I have to go on…

He slowly took out the laptop from his bag and looked at it for a few seconds. Nothing made sense, there were tons of people in the list he had received and he was one in the list. The list seemed endless.
This seemed like a crazy story he had imagined long ago, with the protagonist creating his own story by refusing to continue in his boring existence. The protagonist rushes out of his house forsaking everything to see the coast which he had been longing to see. Taking only his faithful horse, Dunpor with him, the hero rushes to the coast but the journey is arduous and weary but he doesn't stop. He has tons of adventures along the way.

He could see the hero riding on Dunpor beside him confidently and he realized that they were getting away from him. And they weren’t slowing down but he was.

“Sir, we have arrived.” Said the driver.

He could see the list on his laptop clearly now. He kept the laptop back and got out of the car alone and he walked away slowly as he disappeared into the crowd.
